Customised Solutions

Speedshield has developed a range of customised solutions for many industries which integrate with standard equipment. These solutions assist with specific operational issues within fleets. Speedshield are able to white label and customise our products and platforms to suit your brand.

Gone are the days of operators needing to have multiple devices and screens to monitor whilst conducting their daily work operations.

Speedshield Technologies new Vehicle Integration Platform (VIP) offers operators never before seen flexibility and integration with new and existing devices and/or systems.

Consolidated Screens

Speedshield’s industry leading telemetry applications seamlessly intergrates to the VIP product to monitor critical information including: vehicle speed, load indicator and vehicle and operator safety. The VIP system also allows for instant chat application from a singular device.

Developed with scaling in mind, the new platform emulation is able to be customised to integrate with any electronic device and software operating system.

Having all these applications and features on a singular screen removes unnecessary clutter and distraction from driver cabins, providing a safer working environment for operators.

Working With Key Partners

Speedshield Technologies in conjunction with Adaptalift Group and Pacific National, was awarded the largest big truck fleet management contract ever in Australia. The contract involves the supply of Hyster materials handling vehicles including high-capacity forklifts and ReachStackers.

As well as the supply of vehicles the three companies have jointly developed advanced telemetry container management, video analytics and safety solutions which have set the benchmark for the industry. This partnership and shared focus of safety and technology has driven advances in both capability and versatility, providing a safer, more ergonomic and ultimately a more productive environment for the operator and the business, jointly developing a multi-function, consolidated in-vehicle terminal, supporting advanced safety and recording systems.

Container handling solutions

Container Handling Solutions

Vehicle Profiling

The vehicle profile consists of many data elements to enable operators to have a comprehensive view of their front line container handling productivity.

Specific reporting includes:

  • Key service / ‘work’ data
  • Ignition ‘on’ hour meter
  • Engine ‘on’ hour meter
  • Engine ‘working’ hour meter
  • Vehicle speed: peak / average (+ distance data)
  • Vehicle ‘working/stationary’ hour meter
  • Vehicle ‘working/moving’ hour meter
  • Vehicle ‘idle/stationary’ hour meter
  • Vehicle laden hour meter
  • Vehicle unladen hour meter
  • Vehicle laden/moving hour meter
  • Vehicle laden/stationary hour meter
  • RPM banding: peak/average
  • Fuel burn: peak/average/totals
Container profiling

Container Profiling

In addition to vehicle profiling, Speedshield offers custom container profiling solutions to provide further insight on container handling productivity. Key container vehicle logs provide an insight into the duration of the vehicle work cycle providing full working metrics of the container handling fleet.

Key metrics includes:

  • Container lift event
    • Twist lock change of state
    • Laden weight > minimum – identify laden container/empty container
    • Spreader position (20’/40’/intermodal leg lift/twin empty – proximity sensors on elme spreader required to identify certain aspects
    • Container weight
  • Twist lock override event
    • Flag when an operator lifts a container with the twist-lock override function enabled
  • Geographic positioning (DGPS – Differential Global Positioning System, can be accurate to 5-10 cm)
    • Container lift position
    • Container track
    • Container lowering position
Custom solutions efficiency

Efficiency Analysis

Speedshield’s custom container handling solutions promotes container handling efficiency by providing important metrics to assess operator and vehicle performance.

  • Lift event metrics – lifting by operator per vehicle
  • Lift type metrics – 20’ containers, 40’ containers, intermodal
  • Lift, empty, laden
  • Container weight metrics – empty, laden, overloaded
  • Twenty foot equivalent unit (TEU) metric (laden carriers)
    • Vehicle/operator TEU performance
    • 20’ laden container – 1 TEU
    • 40’ laden container – 2 TEU
Real Time Tracking

Real Time Tracking

Speedshield’s custom container handling solutions include real time vehicle tracking and location based data reporting.

  • Individual container ‘movement analysis’
    • Drill down of lift, transit and lower positions
    • Details of weights/configuration
    • Equipment window – details of vehicle and operator
    • Event window – detail any impact events during lift/lower sequence
Custom solutions fault reporting

Fault Reporting

Container handling equipment is an important asset to keep running at peak performance. Speedshield’s custom container handling solutions provide real time fault reporting to alert operators and management of required vehicle maintenance.

  • Engine diagnostics – real time fault reporting
  • Transmission controller diagnostics – real time fault reporting
  • Engine monitoring data
    • Detailed trend data (chart over time) to identify performance anomalies or equipment abuse events
      • Coolant level and temperature data
      • Oil pressure and temperature data
      • Transmission temperature data
  • Pre-operational/post-start checklist compliance
    • After start run-time checks, lift locking functional testing etc.
  • Associated fault events
    • Over-temperature events (engine/transmission)
    • Low oil levels
    • Low fuel/fuel starvation events
    • Overload events
Custom solutions carbon emissions

Carbon Emission Analysis

Container handling equipment can consume fuel at a rapid rate and emit CO2 in large volumes. Speedshield’s customised solution ensures management has fuel burn and CO2 emission information to control their fuel costs and their carbon footprint.

  • Fuel burn data – (vehicle or operator subjective)
    • Engine idle fuel burn
      • Consumption at idle
      • Average/instantaneous
      • CO2 contribution (tonnes CO2)
    • Engine ‘working’ RPM band
      • Consumption
      • Average/instantaneous
      • CO2 contribution (tonnes CO2)
    • CO2 contribution spread
      • CO2 emission per container lift event
      • CO2 emission per twenty foot equivalent unit (TEU)
      • By vehicle
      • By operator
