Case Studies

Proven Across Industries

"The beauty of the system is that it’s easily adaptable to existing safety interlock features already on our machines, providing further controls in protecting against harm to operators and support teams… The cameras and the on-board interlocks stop all hydraulic movements on the drill when approached by a pedestrian within a predetermined parameter. Regardless of the operator in the cabin, if the system sees anyone in the predetermined zone, it stops automatically."

"The collaborative journey with Speedshield Technologies has been truly remarkable. The implementation of our tailored extreme heat-resistant AiVA safety system was nothing less than groundbreaking. AiVA has proved to be a resilient and trustworthy safety solution."

"Improving pedestrian safety around our mobile equipment was a priority for us. After extensive trials and internal review, 360 AiVA proved to be the right solution. It helps reduce the risk of near misses while supporting our clients’ WHS requirements. We’re now rolling it out across multiple business units.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What sets AiVA apart from the competition?

AiVA stands out from competitors by addressing a specific industry safety challenge, rather than developing technology first and seeking applications later.

The system offers a 360-degree "bird's eye" view using multiple durable cameras, capable of spotting people in various positions at ranges of 8 meters and beyond. It also uses advanced 3D imaging techniques to accurately detect pedestrians around industrial vehicles.

Unlike cheaper alternatives that may miss pedestrians in certain situations, AiVA offers superior detection abilities, customizable features, and cloud-based data analysis tools, making it a more reliable choice for industrial safety.

How accurate is AiVA?

In short, very. We designed AiVA to detect one thing only: pedestrians. Even on the most rugged of terrain or the lowest of light.

Why doesn’t AiVA have a display?

We understand the complex demands of operating heavy vehicles. We opted for simple, clear alerts only when needed over giving operators yet another display to monitor.

Is AiVA easy to install?

AiVA comes pre-configured and already powered up, so you can start reaping the safety benefits across your fleet in a matter of minutes.

What range can AiVA detect pedestrians?

AiVA can detect pedestrians at a distance of 26.2ft and beyond, providing ample warning to operators and allowing them to take necessary precautions.

Does AiVA only detect adult pedestrians in a standing position?

No, AiVA is designed to detect pedestrians of all heights and all positions, including children, without the need for special clothing or devices due to our advanced binocular vision making it the most reliable pedestrian detection product on the market.

How does AiVA enhance visibility over operator blind spots?

AiVA's camera can be strategically positioned to cover blind spots, improving the operator's situational awareness and reducing the risk of collisions.

What additional safety features does AiVA offer?

AiVA can be equipped with speed limiting, automatically slowing down the vehicle when a pedestrian is within 9ft. It also offers cloud storage, enabling the capture of data and video for safety events, facilitating reporting, analytics, training, and continuous improvement.

Will lighting conditions decrease detection capabilities?

While testing has shown excellent results in low-light and nighttime environments, detection accuracy may decrease, potentially leading to delayed or missed detections. Similarly, direct sunlight, reflective surfaces, or high-intensity artificial lighting can cause glare or overexposure which might reduce image clarity and affect detection reliability.

How do weather and environmental factors affect detection accuracy?

While AiVA is designed to operate in various conditions, extreme weather can impact its performance.

  • Adverse weather like rain, fog, snow or dust can affect performance and might reduce camera visibility.
  • Lens contamination from dirt or water droplets can impact image quality. (Speedshield alerts you when cleaning is needed).
  • Extreme temperatures might affect sensor sensitivity or slightly slow processing.

What can prevent the system from detecting pedestrians?

Physical obstructions like trees, vehicles, buildings, and other solid objects can block the system’s view, preventing accurate pedestrian detection.

Can the system make mistakes in detection?

Yes, in complex or cluttered backgrounds, the system may generate occasional false alarms or miss detections. This is part of the regular machine learning process. We regularly analyze the system’s performance to identify and correct these errors, gradually improving the model’s accuracy over time.

Is AiVA a replacement for safe vehicle operation practices?

No, AiVA is not a replacement for best-practice vehicle operation. The system is intended as an assistive tool and should not be solely relied upon for making safety-critical decisions without human oversight or additional safeguards. Operators are still advised to drive to conditions, remain vigilant, and constantly look for potential dangers.
